USBP Laredo Sector K9 Supervisor Positive for COVID-19

Local 2455 Members,

We recently informed you of a K9 Supervisor’s spouse testing positive for COVID-19. On March 25, 2020, the K9 Supervisor tested positive for COVID-19 and is in quarantine. Border Patrol Agent K9 handlers and employees that had “Direct Contact” with that K9 Supervisor have been granted Weather and Safety Leave and have been placed in quarantine.

If you had “Direct Contact” or “Indirect Contact” with the K9 Supervisor and have not been placed on Weather and Safety Leave, please notify your station management immediately and request weather and safety leave so you may be quarantined. Your safety leave request will be denied or approved by management based on your contact with the K9 Supervisor on Monday, March 23, 2020.

Make sure you submit a memorandum to Laredo Sector Chief Patrol Agent Felix Chavez documenting the specific details related to your direct contact or indirect contact with the K9 Supervisor.

As always, contact your Union Representative so we may assist you through this process.

Please note that NBPC Local 2455 is currently researching access to private COVID-19 testing for Laredo Sector Border Patrol Agents and Support Staff. We will update you with more information as it becomes available.

Please continue to pray for all those affected by COVID-19.

Stay safe,

Hector Garza
