The National Border Patrol Council and the US Border Patrol Laredo Sector had a successful speaking event with Mr. Joe Piersante in Laredo this past week. The event was hosted for the Laredo Sector workforce and our Community Partners. Some of our Union community partners included the Laredo Police Department, ATF, Laredo Independent School District Counseling Division, United Independent School District Counseling Division, Communities in Schools, Border Region Behavioral Health Center, Enriched Roots mental health services, Clear Choice ER, and others.  

The two-day speaking event hosted approximately 400 people who heard of Mr. Piersante’s challenges and how he overcame them, which included PTSD and suicidal ideation. He also emphasized the strength of resiliency and the benefits of therapy.  Mr. Piersante also discussed the importance of identifying support pillars when facing mental and personal adversities.
