DHS Vaccination Status System (VSS)

The Union has received numerous inquiries regarding the rollout of the DHS Vaccination Status System (VSS).
All employees should have received an email with a link to the VSS. This is a government-wide program, and for DHS/CBP/OBP, each employee is being asked to attest to their vaccination status via this specific system within 10 days of receiving the link

.
The VSS gives you the option to attest that you are (1) fully vaccinated; (2) you are not yet fully vaccinated; (3) you have not been vaccinated; or (4) you decline to respond.

There is no current mandate to complete the form attesting to your individual status; the VSS states, “Employees who choose not to complete the form will be assumed to be not fully vaccinated for purposes of application of the safety protocols.”

It further states, “Consequence of Failure to Provide Information – Providing this information is voluntary.”
However, if you fail to provide this information, you will be treated as not fully vaccinated for purposes of implementing safety measures, including with respect to mask wearing, physical distancing, testing, travel, and quarantine.”

As far as testing goes, the agency does not have any testing procedures in place, nor is there a timeframe for when they plan to have it in place, but what we do know from the government-wide program, is that employees who are required to get tested will do so in an on-duty status, and at the government’s expense.
