2022 Nomination Meeting

NOMINATION NOTICE

Date of this notice: 10/11/2022

Nominations for the offices of President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, 3rd Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Sergeant at Arms will be accepted from the floor at the Nomination Meeting on October 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.  The Nomination Meeting will be held at the NBPC Headquarters, located at 6422 Sinatra Parkway, Laredo, Texas 78041.

Qualifications for office are: be a member in good standing of this local; be a member for one year of an AFGE local, immediately preceding the closing of the nomination process; not be a member in any labor organization not affiliated with the AFL-CIO; candidates shall not run for more than one office in the same local election. Any member who has paid dues through 10/1/2022 is in good standing and eligible to nominate candidates.

A second for a nomination is not required. Self-nominations are permissible. Nominations also may be made in writing, and must be received by Chairperson Albert Esparza at the election committee’s post office box, PO Box 450212, Laredo, Texas 78045 no later than 12:00p.m. on 10/21/2022.  Nominations may be made via email by sending an email to the Local 2455 Election Committee at Local2455EC2022@gmail.com

1) Candidates must accept nomination at the nomination meeting or, 2) if not in attendance, nomination may be accepted in writing, and must be received by Chairperson Albert Esparza at the election committee’s post office box, PO Box 450212, Laredo, Texas 78045, no later than 2:00p.m. on 10/21/2022 or 3) nomination may be accepted in writing by submitting a written acceptance to Chairperson Albert Esparza in person, to be received no later than 12:00p.m. on 10/21/2022 or 4) nominations may be accepted via email by sending an email to the Local 2455 Election Committee at Local2455EC2022@gmail.com to be received no later than 12:00p.m. on 10/21/2022. 

A lone letter of acceptance is a self-nomination.  The member making the nomination has the responsibility of informing the nominee of his or her nomination.  Placement on the ballot will be determined immediately following the nominations.

The term of office will run for 2 years ending with the installation of officers following the regularly scheduled elections in December 2024.

Each candidate may have a reasonable number of observers, who are members, present throughout the election process, including the tally of ballots.
