AFGE Local 2455,
Nominations for the offices of President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Third Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Sergeant at Arms will be accepted from the floor at the membership meeting on December 4, 2014 7:00pm at the Laredo Energy Arena (LEA) (6700 Arena Blvd, Laredo, Texas 78041).
Qualifications for office are:
· Be a member in good standing of this local
· Be a member for one year of an AFGE local immediately preceding the closing of the nomination process
· Not be a member in any labor organizations not affiliated with the AFL-CIO
· Candidates shall not run for more than one office in the same local election
ANY MEMBER WHO HAS SIGNED A DUES WITHHOLDING FORM (SF 1187) BY A RESPONSIBLE OFFICER OF THE LOCAL IS IN GOOD STANDING AND ELIGILBE TO NOMINATE CANDIDATES.
A second for nomination is not required. Self-nominations are permissible. Nominations may be sent by EMAIL to email@example.com .
Nominations also may be made in writing, and must be received by Hector Guerrero (Chair of Committee) at the elections committee's post office box (P.O. Box 2897, Laredo, Texas 78044) no later than 5:00pm on December 4, 2014.
Candidates must accept nomination at the nomination meeting or, if not in attendance, submit written acceptance to Hector Guerrero, to be received by close of nominations.
A lone letter of acceptance is a self-nomination. The member making the nomination has the responsibility of informing the nominee of his or her nomination. Placement on the ballot will be determined immediately following the nominations.
The term of office will run for two years ending with the installation of officers following the regular scheduled elections in January 2015.
The manual secret ballot election will be
conducted on January 29th and the 30th 2015 from 12:00pm to 8:00pm at the Staybridge Suites (7010 NE Bob Bullock Loop, Laredo, TX 78041).
Additional information regarding the election will be provided in a separate notice which will be mailed to all Local 2455 members at a later date.
Each candidate may have a reasonable number of observers, who are members, present throughout the elections process, including the tally of the ballots.
