Once again, AUO is on the "Chopping Block"

January 28, 2014, 2000 hrs.

Members of NBPC Local 2455,

As most of you are aware, CBP-HQ has served OBP with a Notification of Decertification of Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime (AUO).

This order will affect the following personnel:

1. Personnel whom Internal Investigators have determined that the Department is inappropriately providing AUO pay.  According to the information provided at this time, this only includes all personnel assigned permanently to the Laredo North Border Patrol Station.

2. Personnel assigned to OBP-HQ and the Situation Room

3. Personnel assigned as permanent training instructors at the Academy (Academy Instructors).

4. DHS will also notify ERO and AMO that AUO is no longer allowed for their components.

These were the specific areas most recently investigated by the Office of Special Counsel (OSC), but OSC is continuing and expanding their investigation into Sector and Station level use of AUO.  As of this time, a waiver for LRN Agents to continue earning AUO has been submitted by OBP-HQ and is still pending reply from CBP-HQ.

Acting Deputy Chief Patrol Agent Matthew Hudak has assured NBPC Local 2455 that the Laredo Sector will wait for further clarification before implementing any changes at LRN.  At this point there are more questions than answers, but your NBPC Local 2455 Executive Board is currently communicating with Sector HQ and the NBPC, to receive and disseminate the most accurate information to our members as it becomes available.

Stay Safe,

NBPC Local 2455 Executive Board
