Local 2455 met with Congressman Henry Cuellar (Laredo) and Congressman French Hill (Arkansas) to discuss the much needed support for Border Patrol Agents and discuss the numerous Border Security concerns we face on a daily basis.
Rep. Cuellar currently serves on the influential House Appropriations Committee making him the only Texas Democrat to serve on the committee. This committee is in charge of overseeing the Federal budget, reviewing proposed expenditures and crafting the legislation that outlines annual spending for government agencies. Within this committee, Mr. Cuellar also serves on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security and House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development.
Rep. Hill serves on the The House Committee on Financial Services and two of its subcommittees: the Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises and the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.
Some of the Border Security issues discussed today included:
Assaults on Border Patrol Agents
Manipulated Border Patrol statistics on apprehensions, got aways, turn backs, etc.
BP Agents outstanding work
We would like to thank both Congressmen for taking the time to listen to the concerns from those that protect our nations borders.
Local 2455 will continue to reach out to our representatives in congress in order to get the much needed support for Border Patrol Agents.
